A converted running back out of Lake Cormorant, Mississippi, Franklin set a school record with nineteen sacks as a junior, was named Mississippi 5A Defensive Player of the Year, and finished his prep career with 225 tackles and 36 sacks. An Under Armour All-American, he signed with Ole Miss as a five-star and a top-50 national recruit. He waited a year as a true freshman in 2024, backing up future NFL picks Walter Nolen, JJ Pegues and Princely Umanmielen.With that trio gone, Franklin broke out in 2025, posting five sacks, 48 pressures and 38 run stops across fifteen games with 48 tackles and a forced fumble. He saved his best for Washington State with two sacks and a forced fumble, anchoring a heavy three-down workload along the Ole Miss front. The five-sack breakout came against top SEC competition, and the rare running-back-to-edge frame still leaves room for more pass-rush production.
