Draft Profile: Bio
Malik Muhammad from South Oak Cliff High School was rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 4-star grade by 247 Sports. Following high school, Muhammad opted to join Texas after being heavily recruited.

In 2023 as a freshman Muhammad saw action in 14 games and played a total of 479 snaps at cornerback for the Longhorns. He recorded 27 tackles, 6 assists, while adding 8 stops. In coverage Muhammad notched up 4 pass breakups, one interception, and QB rating when targetted of 86.4.

As a sophomore in 2024 he played in 4 games and logged 156 snaps for the Longhorns. He made only 4 tackles, one assist, and had one stop. In coverage he totaled 4 pass breakups, no interceptions, and an outstanding QB rating when targetted of 39.6.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Shows the click-and-close ability to backpedal and the ball skills to make plays. Muhammad has loose hips to go along with good top-end speed, and Muhammad can flip around to turn and run in coverage.
  • His length and leaping ability allow him to high-point the ball and make plays. Muhammad would have had bigger interception numbers in college had opposing quarterbacks not gone out of their way to avoid him.
  • Good instincts and anticipation reads and reacts with discipline. Dangerous with the ball in his hands.
  • Has quick feet and excellent change-of-direction ability, capable of mirroring quickness underneath.
  • He’s long and strong enough in his core to steer receivers to the sideline without getting grabby with his hands when playing inside technique.
  • Gives great effort in run support, sticking his nose in as a tackler, and should be able to contribute as a special teamer covering kicks.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Neither his size nor his straight-line speed would be considered elite
  • Feet aren’t ideal, as Muhammad gets sloppy in his backpedal and can be sluggish when transitioning to close on the ball.
  • Questionable technique and he gets lazy with fundamentals, sometimes getting high in his backpedal and will breach the coverage call seeking flashy plays

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
