Draft Profile: Bio
Zina Umeozulu starred at Allen High School in Texas, earning Under Armour All-America honors and making 64 tackles and four sacks as a senior. Holding about 30 offers as a four-star prospect, he chose Texas over Oklahoma and Texas A&M. His twin brother, Ziky, is a defensive back at Texas, and his older brother, Neto, played on the Longhorns' offensive line.Umeozulu appeared once in his 2024 redshirt season. Over 12 games in 2025 he had a sack against UTEP and four tackles and a sack against Michigan in the Citrus Bowl. Reports in January 2026 had him heading to the portal, but he stayed at Texas.
Umeozulu made his first start against UTSA this season and had four pressures. He made three tackles against Ohio State, and at Tennessee he dropped the quarterback once and jarred the ball loose. He added four hurries at Oklahoma and a sack in the 31-3 win over Mississippi State.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Sack plus a forced fumble in the road game at Tennessee
- Created four pressures in his first start, against UTSA
- Has not missed a tackle in 304 snaps this season
- Powerful edge defender with 12 run stops this season
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Lacks the bend and burst to flatten around the edge
- Florida held him to one assisted tackle in October
- Only two sacks in 304 snaps this season
- Rotational player with just a few starts in his career
- Nearly transferred out of Texas before deciding to stay in January
Scouting Report: Summary
Umeozulu is a big, powerful edge defender who has grown into a bigger role at Texas this season. He sets the edge well, has not missed a tackle and can make plays, as his sack and forced fumble at Tennessee showed. However, he wins with power rather than burst, which caps his pass rush, and he has two sacks. He has made only a few starts in a rotational role, and Florida kept him quiet.
Overall, Umeozulu is a strong, reliable edge player with a limited ceiling as a rusher. He projects as a priority free agent but could return to Texas for another year.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank
in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance.
For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.
*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
