Antwaun Powell-Ryland from Indian River High School was rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 4-star grade by 247 Sports. After high school, Powell-Ryland joined Florida after being heavily recruited.In 2020 as a freshman Powell-Ryland saw action in just one game and played a total of 4 snaps for the Gators. He recorded no tackles, no assists, while adding no stops.
As a sophomore for the Gators in 2021 Powell-Ryland played in 11 games and took part in 125 snaps for the Gators. He recorded only 2 tackles, no assists, while adding one stop. As a pass rusher, he chalked up 9 total pressures, and 6 QB hurries, one QB hit, and 2 sacks during the year.
In 2022 as a junior Powell-Ryland played in 12 games and contributed on 391 snaps. He recorded 17 tackles, 6 assists while making 15 stops. As a pass rusher, he produced 21 total pressures, which included 11 QB hurries, 7 QB hits, and 3 sacks on the year.

- He’s flexible enough to bend the edge, and he’s at his best when Powell-Ryland can use his quickness and change-of-direction abilities to counter back inside.
- Easily gains inside leverage by shooting gaps.
- He’s quick to react and locate the ball, and he shows enough speed to succeed in backside pursuit. Powell-Ryland plays with excellent balance and a strong, flexible core, rarely ending up on the ground.
- He has the quickness and flexibility to consistently dip and bend around the edge.
- Relentless and strong off the edge as a pass rusher when fresh. Gets under the pads of tackles to bull rush them into the backfield.
- Powell-Ryland shows impressive speed and overall athleticism when moving laterally in pursuit as a run defender.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Powell-Ryland has to develop a counter move or two in the pass rush, and Powell-Ryland needs to make better use of his hands.
- He’s going to struggle at the point of attack. As a pass rusher, he lacks the ideal length to ward off blockers and too often allows linemen to get into his chest.
- While he moves well laterally, he doesn’t always get there in pursuit.
