Draft Profile: Bio
Christian Bentancur caught 231 passes for 3,867 yards and 51 touchdowns at Marian Central Catholic in Lakemoor, Illinois, the second-highest receiving total in state history. He was the 2023 Northwest Herald player of the year and the first Illinois athlete with 200 catches and 2,000 points in basketball. He chose Clemson over Ohio State and Oregon.Bentancur caught one pass in six appearances while redshirting in 2024. In 2025 he was in uniform for all 13 Clemson games, made his first start at South Carolina and finished with 20 catches for 215 yards and three scores. Dabo Swinney called him a stud and tough.
Bentancur has been the second tight end behind Olsen Patt-Henry in 2026. He caught a 27-yard touchdown in the 28-20 win over North Carolina, had four receptions for 74 yards against Charleston Southern and scored from 18 yards out at Florida State on 31 October.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Five touchdown catches since the start of the 2025 season
- Four receptions for 74 yards against Charleston Southern
- Scored on an 18-yard catch in the road win at Florida State
- Basketball background gives him soft hands and good body control
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Plays second fiddle to Olsen Patt-Henry in the Clemson offense
- Flagged four times while blocking during the 2026 season
- Just 33 receptions to show for three years at Clemson
- Lacks the bulk Clemson would want from a true in-line blocker
- Has made only a handful of starts in three seasons
Scouting Report: Summary
Bentancur is a smooth, productive tight end and a dependable red-zone option for Clemson. He scored against North Carolina and Florida State this season and catches the ball cleanly. However, he remains the backup to Olsen Patt-Henry, and four penalties this season show his blocking needs work. He also lacks bulk for an in-line role and has started only a few games.
Overall, Bentancur is a promising receiving tight end with more growth ahead. He projects as a priority free agent and would gain from one more college season.

For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.
*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
