Draft Profile: Bio
Standing at a towering 6-foot-8 and weighing 312 pounds, Isaiah World spent four formative years at Nevada before transferring to Oregon for his final collegiate season. A three-star recruit coming out of high school, World transformed himself from the nation's 211th-ranked player into the No. 1 overall transfer in the portal according to 247Sports ahead of his move to Eugene. At Nevada, World steadily climbed the depth chart, redshirting as a freshman before earning 10 starts at right tackle in 2022. He transitioned to left tackle in 2023, where he started all 12 games, earning All-Mountain West Honorable Mention honors. His development continued in 2024 when he again started all 13 games at left tackle, repeating as an All-Mountain West Honorable Mention while posting an impressive 82.3 pass blocking grade from PFF. His performance against top competition caught the attention of powerhouse programs, ultimately leading to his transfer to Oregon.
World's single season at Oregon represented his greatest challenge and opportunity. Tasked with protecting the blindside for a less mobile quarterback in Dante Moore, World stepped into the shoes of NFL draftee Josh Conerly Jr. and performed admirably. Coaches praised his "great spirit" and work ethic, while noting his basketball background had helped him develop the athleticism and body control that complemented his imposing frame. Going against elite edge talent like Matayo Uiagalelei (the Big Ten's sack leader) in practice helped World refine his technique against top-tier competition he hadn't consistently faced in the Mountain West.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Possesses legitimate NFL tackle dimensions with an imposing 6'8" frame that creates immediate problems for edge rushers trying to bend around his massive radius.
- Shows natural shock in his hands when he lands his punch, displaying the power to stun rushers and reset the line of scrimmage when he connects cleanly.
- Demonstrates above-average lateral agility for his size, capable of mirroring speed rushers and rarely looking lost in space during pass sets.
- Created impressive tape against elevated competition after transferring to Oregon, indicating he can handle the significant jump in athleticism at the next level.
- Pass protection fundamentals have steadily improved each season, reflected in allowing just one sack and two QB hits during his final year at Nevada.
- Brings a basketball background that manifests in his body control and balance, allowing him to recover when initially beaten by explosive first steps.
- Displays an understanding of angles and leverage that compensates for occasions when he's beaten by superior athleticism or technique.
- Shows the mental processing to recognize and pick up stunts and delayed blitzes, rarely appearing confused by defensive schemes or late-developing pressure.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Still developing consistency in run blocking, where his pad level tends to rise and negate his natural size advantage, resulting in lost leverage battles.
- Struggles with penalty discipline, committing 8 penalties in his final Nevada season despite improvement from previous years (11 and 13 respectively).
- Hand placement remains inconsistent, too often landing wide or allowing defenders into his chest, negating his length advantage.
- Shows adequate but not exceptional explosion off the snap, limiting his ability to reach defenders on outside zone plays or second-level blocks.
- Limited experience against elite competition prior to his Oregon transfer raises questions about his learning curve against NFL speed and technique.
Scouting Report: Summary
Any NFL team adding World to their roster will be investing in a high-ceiling, developmental tackle who could blossom into a quality starter with time and proper coaching. His film shows a prospect with excellent pass protection instincts but a work-in-progress as a run blocker – making him a perfect fit for pass-first offensive systems that emphasize vertical sets where his length and improving lateral movement can shine immediately. The stark contrast between World's pass and run blocking abilities suggests a specialized role early in his career, likely as a swing tackle who can provide immediate value in obvious passing situations. Coaches will need to focus on lowering his pad level, improving hand placement, and eliminating the penalty issues that have followed him throughout his career. His basketball background has blessed him with rare coordination for his size, but also means he's still developing the consistent power and leverage techniques required in the run game.
What makes World intriguing is how much untapped potential remains. The improvement shown during his transfer year at Oregon against higher-caliber competition indicates his development trajectory is still pointing sharply upward. His fifth-year growth suggests a player who responds well to coaching and elevated competition. While he may require seasoning before taking over a starting role, World possesses the physical tools and technical foundation to develop into an above-average NFL tackle by his second or third season, particularly on the right side where his pass protection skills could truly flourish.
