Draft Profile: Bio
Jaylin Davies from Mater Dei High School was rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 4-star grade by 247 Sports. Following high school, Davies opted to join Oregon after being heavily recruited.In 2021 as a freshman Davies saw action in just 3 games and played a total of 20 snaps at cornerback for the Ducks. He recorded only 2 tackles, no assists, while adding one stop. In coverage Davies notched up no pass breakups, no interceptions, and QB rating when targetted of 81.3.
After the end of the season he transferred to UCLA where as a sophomore for the Bruins in 2022 Davies played in 12 games and logged 376 snaps for the Bruins. He made 24 tackles, 6 assists, and had 6 stops. In coverage he totaled 2 pass breakups, 2 interceptions, and QB rating when targetted of 96.6.

Scouting Report: Strengths
- Has the change-of-direction ability to mirror underneath but did solid work out of press and off coverage.
- Tracks the ball well downfield and shows good ball skills, including the ability to go up and high-point it in contested-catch situations.
- Davies tracks the ball well and does a nice job of getting his head around in plenty of time to avoid flags.
- Good instincts and anticipation reads and reacts with discipline. Dangerous with the ball in his hands.
- Aware in the red zone, stays on the back line to take away fade throws. Capable of making quarterbacks pay for late throws.
- Plays with the natural balance and ultra-quick feet to mirror underneath, and he’s tremendous at reading routes and reading quarterbacks.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- The majority of the time last season, Davies was able to physically overwhelm opposing receivers early in the down, a scenario that won’t play out as often against NFL receivers.
- Too often gives too much of a cushion while playing off his man, and it becomes especially problematic since he’s not a particularly willing tackler.
- Lacks the timed speed to mirror and maintain contact downfield. Loses the ball on slow-developing plays and has a tendency to reach and grab when he gets antsy.
