Miller Moss from Bishop Alemany High School was rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 4-star grade by 247 Sports. After high school, Moss opted to join USC.In 2021 as a freshman Moss saw action in just one game for the Trojans as he threw for just 74 yards on 13 attempts with a completion percent of 61.5 for an average of 5.7 yards per pass, with just one TD, while taking one sack, and an excellent QB rating of 102.7.
In 2022 as a sophomore he played in just 2 games as he passed for just 159 yards on 14 attempts with a completion percent of 85.7 for an average of 11.4 yards per pass, with just one TD, while also taking no sacks, and putting up an excellent QB rating of 137.8.
As a junior in 2023 Moss played a total of just 3 games. He passed for just 309 yards on 32 attempts and put up a completion percentage of 71.9 for an average of 9.7 yards per attempt, with just one TD, and allowing no sacks, with an excellent QB rating on the year of 112.6.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Generally accurate on intermediate and short throws; flashes anticipation and placement on intermediate outs and the ability to lead receivers on deeper throws.
- Possesses an NFL arm. Gets the ball from one hash to the opposite sideline in a hurry. Has the zip to hit tight windows on short and intermediate throws.
- Gets the ball out quickly, making ·splitsecond decisions. Good short to intermediate level accuracy, demonstrating the ball placement to allow receivers to run after the catch.
- While he’s not a burner, Moss has enough athleticism and speed to make plays with his legs when he takes off as a runner.
- Very confident passer and shows good accuracy and feel when in rhythm. Showed better ball placement from past years and throws very catchable passes. Puts too much air in some of his throws and needs to show a lower trajectory on deep throws.
- Sees the field very well when the play breaks down and occasionally changes plays at the line.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Needs to improve his touch at all levels and know when to gun it and when to take something off his throws. Accuracy is solid, but far from great with streaky ball placement downfield as Moss tries to thread the needle too much.
- His arm is good but not great, and he loses accuracy and velocity when he is moved off his spot.
- Strong enough arm to make basic throws but has only average overall arm strength.
