Draft Profile: Bio
Connor Colby from John F Kennedy High School was rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 4-star grade by 247 Sports. Following high school, Colby opted to join Iowa.

In 2021 as a freshman Colby saw action in 14 games and played a total of 632 snaps for the Hawkeyes. He allowed 8 QB hurries, 6 QB hits, and one sack while playing most of his snaps at right guard.

As a sophomore in 2022 he played in 12 games and a total of 674 snaps. He conceded 11 QB hurries, 5 QB hits, and 3 sacks while playing the majority of his snaps at tight tackle, and the rest at left guard.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Shows good understanding of blocking angles and body positioning, although there's room for improvement in his balance and preventing lunging, especially when his initial punch is ineffective.
  • Effective in space and usually drops his hips to get leverage and sustain against shorter defenders.
  • An agile mover who puts his length to good use, using his hands aggressively and landing solid initial punches. Colby can move to the second level as a run blocker, with the coordination and balance to hit moving targets.
  • Shows awareness against twists and stunts, although he might struggle to generate movement and can come off the line of scrimmage too high at times.
  • A better than expected athlete who steadily improved in pass protection, though he may struggle with quick opponents.
  • Tall with long arms, he has exceptional length and is a violent, aggressive, and precise puncher who can redirect pass rushers.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Needs to improve his balance and avoid overreaching when his initial punch is ineffective, which can cause problems when trying to mirror against quick opponents.
  • He needs to work on his pass protection against quick opponents, as he can get caught reaching and lunging.
  • He struggles with power and may have difficulties generating movement. Colby often comes off the line of scrimmage too high and may need to work on being more than a wall-off, angle blocker
