Draft Profile: Bio
DeSean Bishop from Karns High School was rated a 3-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 3-star grade by 247 Sports. Following high school, Bishop joined Tennessee. In 2024 as a freshman Bishop saw action in 4 games for the Volunteers as he ran for 287 yards on 38 attempts for an elite 7.6 yards per carry, with 3 TDs, with no fumbles. As a receiver he made only one reception for 10 yards.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Bishop does a nice job with recognition as a pass protector and gives good effort.
- His passing game skills are strong. He’s a natural hands catcher who turns upfield quickly in the screen game, and Bishop shows a great feel for setting up wheel routes.
- He’s not a burner, and he is more of a block-what’s-given runner than a guy who is going to create.
- He has very good vision and a knack for picking out cut-back lanes and then breaking offchunks of yardage.
- He’s patient, letting blocks develop then accelerating. He runs with a good forward lean and consistently falls forward.
- He brings a nice blend of power and passing game skills. Bishop has a compact build and a naturally low center of gravity, and he runs with excellent balance through traffic, allowing him to squeeze through for yardage.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Bishop is the kind of glue guy who has a chance to stick around for a long time as a role player and special teams contributor. But Bishop doesn’t have the physical skills to stand out in a very good running back class.
- As a runner, he too often looks to bounce outside and make the big play, rather than pick his way through traffic.
- Goes down too easily upon contact and needs to do a better job staying on his feet and anticipating hits. Needs to be more of a finisher and run with more purpose and determination.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank
in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance.
For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.
*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
