Draft Profile: Bio
A sprinter as well as a running back, Dylan Riley ran 10.76 in the 100 meters as a junior at Rancho Verde High School in California and was a two-time Division 8 All-CIF pick. The three-star recruit committed to Boise State in October 2023.Riley made an instant impact as a freshman in 2024, scoring twice on six carries in his debut against Portland State and returning a kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown at Utah State. He took over the lead role in 2025, running for 1,125 yards and 10 touchdowns, scoring five times against Air Force and earning second-team All-Mountain West honors.
He led the nation in rushing at midseason in 2026 and was named a second-team AP Midseason All-American. He ran for 206 yards against Memphis and added 150 yards and a score, plus four catches for 64 yards and another touchdown, at Fresno State. He has passed 1,000 rushing yards in eight games.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Rare long speed, with three runs of 70-plus yards before midseason
- Made 13 defenders miss in his 206-yard game against Memphis
- Patient zone runner who presses the hole and cuts once before accelerating
- Handles a heavy workload, with 28 carries in the win at Western Michigan
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Pass protection is a liability, with seven pressures allowed on 38 blocking snaps
- Light frame raises questions about durability as an every-down NFL back
- Production has come mostly against Group of Five defenses, and Oregon held him to 50 yards
- Limited role as a receiver, built mostly on checkdowns and screens
- As a true junior he could return to Boise State, leaving his 2027 entry uncertain
Scouting Report: Summary
Riley is a home-run hitter. He has rare speed, makes defenders miss in the open field, as he did 13 times against Memphis, and has carried a heavy load without losing his burst. His production over the last two seasons stacks up with any back outside the Power Four. However, his game has clear holes. He has been a liability in pass protection this season, his slight frame will be tested by NFL contact, and his receiving work rarely goes beyond checkdowns. The opener at Oregon, where he managed 50 yards, was also his toughest test of the year.
Overall, Riley is an explosive, productive runner with kick return experience. He projects as a seventh-round speed back who can return kicks, though as a junior he may choose another season at Boise State.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank
in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance.
For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.
*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
