Draft Profile: Bio
Isaac Smith from Itawamba Agricultural High School was rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 4-star grade by 247 Sports. Following high school, Smith opted to join Mississippi State after being heavily recruited.

In 2023 as a freshman Smith saw action in 7 games and played a total of 70 snaps at safety for the Bulldogs. He recorded only 8 tackles, 3 assists, while adding 2 stops. In coverage Smith notched up no pass breakups, no interceptions, and an outstanding QB rating when targetted of .0.

As a sophomore in 2024 he played in 4 games and logged 233 snaps for the Bulldogs. He made 34 tackles, 8 assists, and had 7 stops. In coverage he totaled one pass breakup, no interceptions, and an unimpressive QB rating when targetted of 116.2.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Possesses good straight-line speed, fluid hips to turn and run, and explosiveness out of his breaks. Good vision and anticipation as a free safety.
  • Good hustle player who puts himself in the action when he's not directly involved. Knows how to use his height and vertical leap.
  • While built more like a cornerback than a safety, Smith has the vision, range, hitting ability, and ball skills teams want at free safety in the pass-heavy NFL.
  • Gives up his body in run support with a very good closing burst.
  • Has the violent hands to discard receivers and smaller tight ends, and he is a sure tackler. In coverage, he shows good instincts when sitting back in zone, with click-and-close ability and good ball tracking.
  • Reads and deciphers quickly, reacting in a flash with a nose for the ball. Jumps routes and drives fast on plays in front of him.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Not an explosive player and needs to show better bend and flexibility in his drops - plays too high.
  • Tends to play conservatively and give too much cushion when playing off.
  • He’ll be giving up too much size to opposing tight ends, and Smith doesn’t quite have the twitch to mirror quicker slot receivers.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
