Lutmer took over Iowa's nickel job in 2025 and started all thirteen games, breaking out as a versatile, downhill defensive back and one of the Big Ten's risers.He intercepted three passes, returning one for a touchdown, and added six breakups, thirty-two run stops and 5.5 tackles for loss while blitzing and covering across the formation.
For 2026 he moved into Iowa's hybrid CASH role, mixing slot corner, safety and linebacker duties as a projected starter and breakout candidate drawing comparisons to former Hawkeye Cooper DeJean.
