After high school, Skinner opted to join Miami (FL).In 2022 as a freshman Skinner saw action in 10 games for the Hurricanes as he made 9 receptions for just 125 yards for an average of 13.9 yards per reception, with one TD, and QB rating when targeted of 76.3.
As a sophomore in 2023 he played just 2 games and had just one catch for 9 yards for an average of 9.0 yards per catch, with no TDs, and an excellent QB rating when targeted of 104.2.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- He’s at his best working in space, showing the quickness and vision of a return specialist. His stop-start ability allows him to create initial separation.
- Skinner can move the chains and has the skills to stand out in the red zone with sneaky foot speed and long stride to top producing tight end.
- He has strong hands and is extremely competitive, and Skinner has an innate sense of timing when it comes to elevating and high-pointing balls.
- And showed the ability to get in and out of cuts and create separation. He’s a coordinated hands catcher and extremely violent after the catch, seeking out contact and lowering his shoulder to deliver hits while carrying the ball. He has surprising straight-line speed.
- Good burst off the snap, quick hands and good balance to gain a clean release.
- Skinner has quick feet and good body control, allowing him to gear down and quickly get in and out of cuts. His hands are good, and he’s a creative runner after the catch with the elusiveness to slip tackles in space.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- He’ll also have to adjust to getting his head around to locate the ball on shorter routes over the middle.
- While Skinner has the athleticism to be a catch-and-run threat, he never seemed comfortable catching, gathering, and transitioning to a runner.
