Jalil Farooq from Dr. Henry Wise High School was rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 4-star grade by 247 Sports. After high school, Farooq opted to join Oklahoma.In 2021 as a freshman Farooq saw action in 5 games for the Sooners as he made 4 receptions for only 69 yards for an average of 17.3 yards per reception, with no TDs, and an elite QB rating when targeted of 118.8.
As a sophomore in 2022 he played 12 games and had 34 catches for 405 yards for an average of 11.9 yards per catch, with 4 TDs, and QB rating when targeted of 91.7.
As a junior in 2023 he played 12 games and hauled in 41 catches for 637 yards for an average of 15.5 yards per catch, with 2 TDs, and QB rating when targeted of 88.9.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- A versatile weapon, proving to be effective inside in the slot and outside on the perimeter. Makes plays at all levels of the field.
- Has a knack for getting open and is a quarterback's best friend - passers just need to toss the ball in his area and he'll come down with it.
- Balanced, savvy route runner with top field awareness, setting up and selling routes beautifully.
- Does not possess top breakaway speed, though he's rarely caught from behind.
- Good effort and technique as a blocker for his size. Can beat the press with elusiveness or physical contact. Runs crisp routes with sharp cuts.
- Farooq is quicker than fast and lacks elite wheels to simply blow by defenders, but Farooq has good football speed.

- Farooq has constantly ran a limited route tree.
- Farooq isn’t going to overwhelm opposing defensive backs with speed and athleticism.
- His ability to track the ball is good enough, but Farooq too often let the ball get into his body downfield rather than snatching it with his hands.
