Draft Profile: Bio
Jasheen Davis, born December 18, 2001, hails from Snellville, Georgia. At Shiloh High School, Davis dominated as a senior, racking up 86 tackles, 11 sacks, and two defensive touchdowns. His stellar play earned him Defensive Player of the Year honors in Georgia Region 8-7A and First Team All-County recognition.

Arriving at Wake Forest as a three-star recruit, Davis quickly surpassed expectations. After limited action as a true freshman in 2020, he exploded onto the scene in 2021, earning Second Team Freshman All-America honors from The Athletic. His sophomore campaign in 2022 saw him lead the Demon Deacons with 14.0 tackles for loss and 7.0 sacks, garnering All-ACC Honorable Mention.

Davis's junior year solidified his status as an elite ACC edge defender. Starting all 12 games, he amassed 49 tackles, 16.0 tackles-for-loss, and 7.5 sacks. His production ranked him 32nd nationally in sacks and ninth in tackles-for-loss, cementing his reputation as a relentless force off the edge. Davis finished his Wake Forest career with 20 sacks, good for fifth in program history.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Explosive first step allows him to win vertically and turn the corner, putting immediate pressure on offensive tackles
  • Demonstrates ability to convert speed to power, keeping blockers off-balance and creating leverage advantages
  • Utilizes an effective array of pass rush moves, including rip, long-arm, and club-swim techniques to disengage from blockers
  • Exhibits excellent linear closing speed and burst, allowing him to chase down quarterbacks and ball carriers from behind
  • Shows a knack for shooting gaps and getting skinny, disrupting plays in the backfield before they can develop
  • Relentless motor and pursuit of the quarterback, consistently giving maximum effort on every snap
  • Versatile alignment options, lining up as 4-tech, 5-tech, and wide-9, providing scheme flexibility for NFL defenses
  • Special teams experience on punt return and field goal block units adds value to his NFL roster potential
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Lacks ideal length for the edge position, which may limit his ability to consistently set the edge against NFL-caliber tackles
  • Displays some stiffness in his hips, limiting his ability to bend and flatten around the arc when rushing the passer
  • Struggles to anchor against the run, often getting washed out by down blocks and lacking the strength to stack and shed effectively
  • Pass rush plan can be one-dimensional at times, relying heavily on speed and needing to develop more counter moves
  • Can get caught playing with high pad level, negating his natural leverage advantages and making him easier to block
Scouting Report: Summary
Davis projects as a situational pass rusher and special teams contributor early in his NFL career, with the potential to develop into a more well-rounded edge defender. His explosive first step and relentless motor will appeal to teams running 3-4 schemes, where he can be utilized as an outside linebacker or wide-9 technician.

While Davis may not have the ideal size to be an every-down defensive end in a 4-3 system, his versatility and pass-rushing acumen make him an intriguing prospect for teams looking to bolster their pressure packages. His ability to line up in multiple techniques and contribute on special teams adds value to his draft stock.

As he transitions to the NFL, Davis will need to continue refining his pass rush repertoire and improving his play strength to become a more complete defender. If he can make these strides, he has the potential to become a valuable rotational piece in a defense that emphasizes speed and aggressiveness off the edge.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
