Draft Profile: Bio
Kenny Johnson played basketball and competed in wrestling and track at Dallastown High School in York, Pennsylvania. He was rated a three-star recruit and earned MVP honors in the Big 33 game with nine catches for 161 yards and a touchdown. At Pitt he returned a kickoff for a touchdown as a freshman in 2023, led the ACC in kick return yards in 2024 and caught 48 passes for 695 yards and five touchdowns in 2025, adding a punt return score and earning honorable mention All-ACC.
Johnson transferred to Texas Tech in January 2026 with two years of eligibility left. He caught four passes for 113 yards and a touchdown in the 28-26 win over Houston on 18 September and seven for 120 yards in the 53-25 win over Arizona State on 17 October. He has 35 catches for 548 yards and two touchdowns in eight games.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Proven return threat with touchdowns on both a kickoff and a punt at Pitt
- Big-play outside target averaging nearly 16 yards a catch
- Seven catches for 120 yards against Arizona State showed his range
- Strong hands, with one drop on 58 targets this season
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Little after the catch, about three yards per reception
- Colorado held him to one catch for eight yards
- Dropped six passes at Pitt in 2025, a concern that has eased this year
- Average speed limits his separation against press coverage
- Has two years of eligibility left as of January 2026, so he could stay in school
Scouting Report: Summary
Johnson is an outside receiver who makes his living on downfield throws and in the return game. He averages almost 16 yards a catch, wins with his hands, and has returned both a kickoff and a punt for touchdowns, which gives him a clear path to special teams value. However, he creates very little after the catch, and his average speed limits his separation. His hands were a problem at Pitt in 2025, and Colorado showed how quiet he can be when he cannot win early.
Overall, Johnson is a physical outside receiver with return experience. He projects as a priority free agent whose best chance to stick is as a returner and depth receiver.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank
in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance.
For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.
*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
