Raw prospect with intriguing potential and impressive physical ability. Showed a lot of improvement over the 2020 season. Hardworking with great intangibles. Paye has been described as the most explosive pass rusher in this year's draft class by a number of scouts. He also has a high motor and doesn't take plays off.
Paye’s college stats were not very impressive considering his athletic ability but could easily be a product of him being forced to play out of position with the Wolverines. He had 100 tackles and 11 ½ sacks in his four-year career, with 6 ½ sacks coming in 2019.
But his athleticism is what has attracted NFL teams and is now shooting up draft boards. At Michigan’s pro day on March 26, Paye ran a 4.54-second 40-yard dash and had 36 bench-press reps, this is even more impressive when you take into account he is 272 Lbs!
He has potential as a quality pass rusher - which means that there will always be a demand for his services on draft day - early in the process he is being projected as a late first by some and a second-rounder by others but he has the opportunity to continue to climb the board due to his impressive physical tools.
After his Pro day performance, there is no way he makes it out of the first round.
