Throughout his college career, Lloyd has been recognized for his contributions on and off the field. Notably, he was named to the SEC Football Community Service Team in 2022, highlighting his commitment to making a positive impact in the community.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Exceptional acceleration and burst, enabling rapid transitions through different levels of defense.
  • Poses a constant threat with his long-speed capability, turning any play into a potential touchdown.
  • Displays impressive stop/start explosiveness, making him adept at evading defenders in open space.
  • Possesses untapped potential in the passing game, demonstrated through limited yet impactful receptions.
  • Exhibits remarkable lateral agility and a strong sense of balance, allowing for effective evasion of oncoming tacklers.
  • High football IQ, evident in his ability to quickly identify blitzers and execute effective pass protection strategies.
  • Demonstrates good contact balance and strength, often advancing through hits and evading tackles.
  • Shows a commitment to running assignments, particularly in inside zone plays, highlighting his anticipation for emerging opportunities.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • His high, upright rushing style can detract from balance and power, affecting efficiency in contact situations.
  • Displays below-average vision at times, needing to improve on seizing immediate running lanes more decisively.
  • Lacks experience and proficiency in pass protection, which could limit third-down usability early in his NFL career.
  • Ball security concerns due to a tendency to carry the ball loosely, increasing fumble risks.
  • Occasionally seeks to bypass assigned gaps for larger gains, a strategy that may prove less effective against the disciplined defenses of the NFL.
Scouting Report: Summary
MarShawn Lloyd enters the NFL draft landscape as a back with explosive playmaking ability, distinguished by his burst, agility, and open-field speed. His capacity to shift gears and navigate through traffic makes him a constant threat, capable of turning a routine play into a highlight-reel touchdown. However, his transition to the NFL will require a sharpening of his vision and decisiveness in hitting the holes.

On the flip side, concerns about Lloyd's ball security and pass protection loom as significant areas for improvement. His tendency to carry the ball loosely has led to fumbles, a liability that NFL defenses will exploit. Additionally, Lloyd's relative inexperience in pass protection poses questions about his ability to be an every-down back, especially in pass-heavy offenses where blitz pickup is as valued as the ability to catch out of the backfield.

As Lloyd steps onto the NFL stage, his blend of athleticism and raw talent presents an intriguing option for teams looking to add a dynamic element to their backfield. While his collegiate career showcased the heights of his potential, the rigorous demands of the pro game will test his capacity. We expect LLoyd to be able to make an immediate impact and has the potential to start early in his pro career.

The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
