Draft Profile: Bio
A former Hueytown High School standout, Roydell Williams (5'10", 214) racked up 5,929 career rushing yards and 84 touchdowns before joining Alabama's loaded backfield. The Golden Gopher product earned first-team all-state honors in 2018 after a 2,757-yard junior campaign that included 32 touchdowns.Through four seasons at Alabama, Williams accumulated 1,165 yards on 234 carries (5.0 YPC) with 11 touchdowns. His most productive season came in 2023, recording 560 yards and five touchdowns on 111 carries while adding 11 receptions for 58 yards. After transferring to Florida State for the 2024 season, Williams struggled early with 54 yards on 20 carries and a critical fumble against Memphis before being sidelined with an extended injury.
Williams' collegiate career includes notable performances like his 129-yard outburst against USF and a 110-yard showing versus Southern Miss. He demonstrated versatility with 16 career receptions for 115 yards and two touchdowns while consistently contributing on special teams with multiple tackles in kick coverage.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Showcases plus instincts in the A and B gaps, displaying decisive plant-and-go ability when hitting the hole
- Anchors effectively in pass pro, squares up blitzers, and maintains leverage against bigger defenders
- Natural hands catcher away from frame, tracks ball effectively on swing routes and checkdowns
- Demonstrates quick-twitch lateral agility at the line with efficient jump-cut mechanics
- Runs behind pads with proper lean, consistently falls forward through contact
- Plus blitz recognition skills, identifies and mirrors second-level defenders in protection
- Downhill runner who attacks the line with conviction, shows chain-moving ability in short yardage
- Maintains contact balance through initial hits, keeps legs churning post-contact
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Lacks second gear to threaten the edge or pull away from pursuit angles
- Limited wiggle in space, doesn't consistently make unblocked defenders miss
- Medical red flags after significant time missed in 2024 season
- Lacks elite burst to consistently create when blocking breaks down
- Minimal home run ability, limited explosive plays despite volume at Power 5 level
Scouting Report: Summary
The tape shows a decisive one-cut runner who thrives in gap schemes where he can get north-south quickly. Inside zone and power concepts maximize his downhill style and ability to read blocks, though athletic limitations restrict scheme versatility.Core special teams value and third-down reliability raise the floor, but lack of separating traits caps ceiling. Best suited for a complementary role in a power run game where he can utilize his vision and decisive running style between the tackles.
Scheme-specific prospect who needs a downhill run game to maximize effectiveness. Plus pass protection skills and natural hands provide third-down utility, but athletic constraints and injury concerns limit overall projection.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
