Draft Profile: Bio
Trey Wedig from Kettle Moraine High School was rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 4-star grade by 247 Sports. Following high school, Wedig opted to join Wisconsin. In 2021 as a freshman Wedig saw action in just 2 games and played a total of 30 snaps for the Badgers. He allowed no QB hurries, no QB hits, and no sacks while playing at right guard.
As a sophomore in 2022 he played in 9 games and a total of 492 snaps. He conceded 7 QB hurries, no QB hits, and 3 sacks while playing the majority of his snaps at tight tackle, and the rest at right guard.
In 2023 as a junior Wedig saw action in 10 games and totaled 252 snaps. He gave up 5 QB hurries, 2 QB hits, and no sacks while playing the majority of his snaps at right guard, and the rest at left guard.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Moves well and squares to finish on the move. Better anchor than his height suggests and capable of absorbing a punch and recovering quickly.
- Cerebral player, quick to react to twists and stunts up front, and Wedig shows an excellent understanding of angles when moving out as a run blocker.
- Shows excellent awareness when presented with stunts and blitzes, and he works well with teammates on combo blocks
- Wedig flashes power and nastiness in the run game, able to win at the point of attack and athletic enough to get out as a pulling blocker before landing blocks on the move at the second level.
- Understands angles and plays with good leverage. Wedig has long arms and heavy hands, using them effectively in pass protection, and he has a strong enough initial punch to get an edge on quick sets.
- Solid positional run blocker who flashes the nasty demeanor and killer instinct scouts covet.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Wedig seems too focused on winning with his hands, too often stopping his feet. Wedig also plays with poor balance in the run game, lunging into contact rather than sinking his hips and delivering a block.
- Not a natural knee-bender and gets too upright. Needs to play with better leverage and stay balanced through contact.
- Clearly more comfortable moving forward than sliding back as a protector.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank
in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance.
For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.
*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
