Draft Profile: Bio
A five-star by 247Sports out of Mainland High in Daytona Beach, Mincey signed with Alabama as a cornerback recruited by Nick Saban, then shifted to safety under the staff that followed. He earned his first career start in the 2024 ReliaQuest Bowl against Michigan and worked into a steady role from there.

Mincey appeared in all fifteen games in 2025 and recorded 38 tackles, three pass breakups and a pair of quarterback hurries, filling downhill against the run while still learning the deep-coverage end of the position. The corner-to-safety background gives him movement skills most box defenders lack, and he played his most physical football in run support, taking on blocks and triggering forward as one of the more athletic options in Alabama's young secondary. His blue-chip pedigree and the corner-to-safety conversion give him coverage tools that many box defenders never develop, even with the ball production still light.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Plus timed speed and size at 205 pounds with length to match
  • Sets a firm edge and fits the run, a willing force near the line
  • Former blue-chip recruit with the frame to develop on the back end
  • Competes downhill and finishes stops in run support
  • Length at 75 inches to contest throws at the catch point
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Played a backup role on only 218 snaps
  • Did not record an interception on the year
  • Gives up his share in coverage, with a man-coverage mark below average
  • Body of work is too small to project with confidence
  • Ball-skills production is unproven at the college level
Scouting Report: Summary
Mincey is a big, fast safety with length and a strong run defense, a former blue-chip recruit who flashed downhill in a backup role for Alabama. He competes near the line, finishes stops in run support, and at 205 pounds with 75-inch length has the frame to develop on the back end. The size-and-speed combination and the run-game willingness are the projectable traits, even with the snaps and the production limited behind a deep secondary.

The sample and the coverage are the concerns. He played a backup role on only 218 snaps, did not record an interception, and his leaves throws on the field in coverage with a man-coverage mark below average. His body of work is too small to project with confidence, and his ball-skills production is unproven. He is a size-and-speed developmental safety whose cover game and production both need a larger sample to judge.

He projects as a developmental strong safety whose frame, speed, and run defense are worth a late bet if the coverage develops with a bigger role. The thin sample and the modest coverage keep the grade low, but the traits and the pedigree are intriguing. He grades on Day 3 as a developmental safety best deployed near the line while the coverage catches up to the physical, downhill strengths.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
