Jamari Sharpe grew up in Miami and played wide receiver at Northwestern Senior High School for three years before switching to cornerback as a senior. He also ran track, posting a 10.69 in the 100-meter dash at the 3A state meet and winning a district title in the 200-meter. His uncle, Glenn Sharpe, played cornerback at Miami and spent time in the NFL with the Falcons, Saints, and Colts.Sharpe signed with Indiana as a three-star recruit in 2022 and redshirted his first year. He started nine of 12 games as a redshirt freshman in 2023, recording 22 tackles, three pass breakups, and an interception. His role shrank in 2024 under Curt Cignetti's new staff to nine games and three starts, but the reduced snaps came with a noticeable jump in technique. He tallied 13 tackles, six pass breakups, half a sack, and a fumble recovery.
Sharpe won the starting field corner job opposite All-American D'Angelo Ponds in 2025 and started all 15 games during Indiana's run to the CFP National Championship.
