Draft Profile: Bio
The former Downey High School standout tore through California prep football, completing over 73% of his throws for 3,350 yards and 38 touchdowns as a senior and earning an All-American Bowl invitation. The four-star recruit began at Oregon State in 2023 as a backup, then followed Jonathan Smith to Michigan State, where he started all 12 games in 2024 and threw for 2,415 yards with 13 touchdowns, including a 363-yard, three-touchdown game against Maryland.Chiles started Michigan State's first eight games of 2025, completing 127 of 204 passes for 1,391 yards with 10 touchdowns and three interceptions while rushing for 227 yards and six scores. He threw four touchdown passes against Boston College in Week 2 and added three more on 212 passing yards at USC.
A midseason benching and a foot injury ended his year; redshirt freshman Alessio Milivojevic took over the job before the Minnesota game, and a boot on Chiles' left foot kept him sidelined down the stretch. In December, Chiles entered the transfer portal and committed to Northwestern for 2026.

He followed coach Jonathan Smith to Michigan State and made a meaningful jump in 2025, cutting his interceptions from eleven to three, before an injury ended his year after eight games at 1,391 yards and ten touchdowns.He is a big-play creator who threatens defenses with his legs and his arm, and he flashed the ceiling against USC with three scores. The improved decision-making is encouraging, and he is expected back at Michigan State in 2026 to keep developing. A patient staff that can live with the variance for the upside is the right landing spot, because the ceiling on the raw traits is exceptionally high.
The consistency is the issue.
