Draft Profile: Bio
Hudson Card from Lake Travis High School was rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 4-star grade by 247 Sports. After high school, Card opted to join Texas.

In 2020 as a freshman Card saw action in just 2 games for the Longhorns as he threw for only 5 yards on 3 attempts with a completion percent of 33.3 for an average of 1.7 yards per pass, with no TDs, while taking no sacks, and only QB rating of 42.4.

In 2021 as a sophomore he played in 6 games as he passed for a decent 588 yards on 84 attempts with a completion percent of 60.7 for an average of 7.0 yards per pass, with only 5 TDs, while also taking 10 sacks, and putting up an impressive QB rating of 96.7.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Sees the field very well when the play breaks down and occasionally changes plays at the line.
  • Very confident passer and shows good accuracy and feel when in rhythm. Showed better ball placement from past years and throws very catchable passes. Puts too much air in some of his throws and needs to show a lower trajectory on deep throws.
  • Sprays the ball anywhere on the field, especially when given a pocket from which to deliver. Will step up into pocket while looking downfield, reset his feet and deliver.
  • He’s enough of a threat as a runner to make the read-option game effective.
  • Possesses an NFL arm. Gets the ball from one hash to the opposite sideline in a hurry. Has the zip to hit tight windows on short and intermediate throws.
  • Good (not elite) arm strength and can easily make all the NFL throws with effortless deep passes.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Card has a bad habit of fading and throwing off his back foot when the pocket gets muddled, and Card is too often all arm when throwing on the move, sacrificing accuracy.
  • He often holds the ball too long. While he keeps his eyes up while moving, his mechanics get increasingly sloppy once he’s pushed off his spot.
  • Card tends to hold the ball loosely and away from his body, putting him at risk for strip sacks.
