Draft Profile: Bio
Giles Jackson arrived at Washington via Michigan, where he earned All-Big Ten honorable mention honors as a return specialist in 2019. The California native made an immediate impact for the Wolverines, accumulating 833 all-purpose yards as a true freshman including a 97-yard kickoff return touchdown against Maryland. At Freedom High School in Oakley, CA, Jackson was a four-star recruit who scored 63 total touchdowns and demonstrated his versatility by reaching the end zone via rush, reception, kick return, punt return, fumble return and interception return.

After transferring to Washington in 2021, Jackson continued his development as both a receiver and return specialist. He appeared in 48 career games across his college career, including starting roles at both Michigan and Washington. His senior season showed his continued growth as a receiver, highlighted by a career-best performance against Washington State where he hauled in 8 receptions for 162 yards and a touchdown. Jackson also maintained his special teams value, finishing his career with over 1,000 kick return yards and two return touchdowns.

The 5'9", 187-pound weapon showed remarkable durability despite his smaller frame, playing through various injuries while maintaining his explosive playmaking ability. His senior year stat line demonstrated his versatility - he recorded multiple games with 6+ receptions while continuing to impact the return game.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Twitched-up athlete with legit 4.3 speed, demonstrates rare acceleration and burst off the line with ability to stack corners vertically
  • Plus body control and tracking ability on vertical routes, consistently adjusts to the ball without breaking stride
  • Exceptional lateral agility and stop-start ability makes him a threat in space, particularly dangerous on orbit motions and jet sweeps
  • Home run threat in return game with proven production, demonstrates natural instincts and vision setting up blocks
  • Shows snap-count manipulation and tempo variation in routes, creating separation with sudden breaks at the top
  • Multi-phase weapon who can align across formation, forcing defensive adjustments pre-snap
  • Displays advanced stem work on option routes, consistently finds soft spots against zone coverage
  • Core special teams contributor with gunner experience, demonstrates proper leverage and lane discipline in coverage
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Severely limited catch radius and play strength, creating mismatch concerns against longer corners in press-man
  • Lacks ideal anchor strength and base as a blocker, gets displaced easily when working against defensive backs
  • Route tree needs expansion, particularly on rhythm and timing patterns where precision is crucial
  • Shows hesitation working across middle in traffic, will gear down anticipating contact
  • Struggles to maintain leverage against physical corners, can get knocked off-balance through route stem
Scouting Report: Summary
Based on tape study, Jackson projects best to an offense emphasizing pre-snap motion and manufactured touches. His elite deep speed and short-area quickness create immediate value in the screen game and vertical passing attack, though size limitations restrict his deployment.

Gap scheme offenses featuring jet motion and RPO concepts align with Jackson's skillset, allowing him to operate in space while minimizing physical matchups. His value on special teams provides roster flexibility, though his frame suggests development as a complementary piece in the passing game.

Multiple coordinators have maximized Jackson's explosiveness through creative deployment, indicating scheme versatility despite physical limitations. His ceiling depends heavily on landing with a staff willing to manufacture touches while developing his route tree.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
