Draft Profile: Bio
Javon Tracy comes from a football family; his brother Tyrone Tracy Jr. played at Iowa and Purdue before reaching the NFL. At Decatur Central High School in Indianapolis, Javon caught 48 passes for 856 yards and 15 touchdowns as a junior, then moved to quarterback as a senior and ran for 1,054 yards, finishing as a Mr. Football finalist. He began at Miami (Ohio), redshirting in 2022 and catching 57 passes for 818 yards and seven touchdowns in 2024 to earn first-team All-MAC honors. Tracy transferred to Minnesota for 2025 and led the Gophers with six touchdown catches, three of them at Northwestern.
In his fifth and final season, Tracy opened 2026 with punt return touchdowns of 87 and 69 yards and five catches for 98 yards in a 59-7 win over Eastern Illinois, earning Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week. He has been a regular slot target since, with seven catches against both Washington and Iowa.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Dangerous punt returner, scoring twice from long range against Eastern Illinois
- Strong after the catch, with more than half of his receiving yards coming after it
- Reliable hands, with two drops on 62 targets this season
- Comfortable in the slot or outside, with first-team All-MAC production at Miami (Ohio)
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Averages about 10 yards a catch, so he rarely threatens defenses downfield
- One touchdown catch in eight games after leading the team with six in 2025
- Good but not special speed, which limits his separation against man coverage
- Michigan held him to three catches for 19 yards, his quietest game
- Mixed results in contested situations, winning three of eight this season
Scouting Report: Summary
Tracy is a sure-handed slot receiver who adds real value in the return game. He is hard to bring down after the catch, catches what is thrown his way and showed his big-play range with two punt return touchdowns against Eastern Illinois. However, his receiving production has been short-area in nature this season. He averages about 10 yards a catch, has one touchdown and does not have the speed to separate consistently against tight man coverage, as Michigan showed.
Overall, Tracy brings a dependable slot skill set and proven return ability. He projects as a priority free agent whose best path to a roster spot is as a punt returner who can handle slot snaps.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank
in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance.
For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.
*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
