Draft Profile: Bio
Jordan James from Oakland Patriots High School was rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 4-star grade by 247 Sports. Following high school, James joined Oregon.

In 2022 as a freshman James saw action in 8 games for the Ducks as he ran for 164 yards on 42 attempts for 3.9 yards per carry, with 5 TDs, with no fumbles. As a receiver he made only one reception for 6 yards.

As a sophomore in 2023 he played 14 games. and rushed for 764 yards on 108 carries for an elite 7.1 ypc, with 11 TDs, with no fumbles. In the passing game he pulled in 15 receptions for 132 yards.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • His passing game skills are strong. He’s a natural hands catcher who turns upfield quickly in the screen game, and James shows a great feel for setting up wheel routes.
  • He’s at his best working in space, showing the quickness and vision of a return specialist. His stop-start ability allows him to create initial separation.
  • James finishes runs well and flashes the ability to get small and squeeze through traffic.
  • Has good burst to and through the hole. A patient runner with good vision and burst for the cutback. Squares his shoulders and can knock the defender back onto his heels. Good leg drive and forward lean to gain extra yardage after contact.
  • He’s a natural pass catcher, at his best pulling in swing passes and heading upfield. He’s a natural in the screen game as well. His hands are good enough that he can line up in the slot.
  • Difficult to bring down one-on-one in space, regularly sidesteps would-be tacklers and uses offhand to use oncoming defenders' momentum against them without slowing down significantly.
  • James accelerates 0-to-60 and hits top speed fast enough to outrun angles. He’s also flexible and agile, able to keep the pedal to the floor as he turns and weaves.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • James doesn’t offer a ton of wiggle, and in college, James often sought out contact rather than avoiding it.
  • Does not always read blocks behind pulling guards. May not be big enough to move piles at the next level and has a tendency to bury his head too soon.
  • James doesn’t have the ability as a run blocker or the violent run-after-catch ability.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
