Draft Profile: Bio
Malcolm Simmons won three Class 6A long jump titles and two high jump titles at Benjamin Russell High School in Alexander City, Alabama, setting state records of 7 feet in the high jump and nearly 25 feet in the long jump. He also played basketball, and ESPN ranked the four-star receiver among the top 25 at his position.

Simmons picked Auburn over Arkansas, UCF and Liberty. During his 2024 debut season he made six starts and caught 40 passes for 451 yards and three scores, and in 2025 he added 25 catches for 457 yards and two touchdowns, averaging better than 18 yards per reception.

Simmons moved on to Texas Tech for 2026, where two seasons of eligibility awaited, but he has logged only 78 snaps. He has two catches, both touchdowns, a 64-yarder against Abilene Christian and a 27-yarder against Sam Houston. Texas Tech has said he may redshirt.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Elite athlete who set Alabama state records in the high jump and long jump
  • Both of his catches this season went for touchdowns
  • Averaged more than 18 yards a catch at Auburn in 2025
  • Gained 292 yards after the catch on 25 receptions in 2025
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Has played only 78 snaps for Texas Tech this season
  • Just two catches across five games with the Red Raiders
  • Thin frame that is very light for an outside receiver
  • Production dropped from 40 catches to 25 at Auburn
  • Could redshirt this year, according to the school
Scouting Report: Summary
Simmons is an explosive athlete with state-record jumping ability who has turned touches into big plays. He averaged more than 18 yards a catch in 2025, and both of his catches this season went for touchdowns.

However, he has barely played at Texas Tech, with 78 snaps, and he may redshirt. He is very light, and his production fell in his second season at Auburn.

Overall, Simmons is a big-play athlete without a current role. He projects as a priority free agent, though a redshirt this fall would keep him in college.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
