You know you are getting on when you can remember when a prospects dad was being drafted (Patrick Surtain Sr also played cornerback and was a second round pick by Miami in the 1998 draft who went on to enjoy 11 seasons in the NFL). Now comes Patrick Surtain Jr who looks to do one better and be selected in the first round - and likely high in the first round as well as he looks set to be the first CB taken.
Surtain has good size and at 6'2" (though also seen him listed at 6'1") is a 'bigger' cornerback - tall and athletic - he can play as a press corner but in other schemes as well. Plenty of tackles throughout his career and a steady number of passes defended - not many interceptions though (only 4 recorded from 2018-2020). One question mark is around speed over distance as has given up some long catches.
Great intangibles and toughness and happy to get stuck in against the run.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
