Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Reads and deciphers quickly, reacting in a flash with a nose for the ball. Jumps routes and drives fast on plays in front of him.
  • Hard downhill hitter and solid tackler with long arms.
  • Has excellent ball skills, tracking the ball effectively and instinctively taking the right route to break up the play. Fontenette has the strong hands and coordination to come down with interceptions.
  • Does a very good job of reading the eyes of the quarterback and reacting with good field awareness and ball skills.
  • Possesses a versatile skill set to play in various zone and man coverage - good size match up against bigger targets.
  • In the run game, he’s aggressive coming downhill and a sure tackler.
  • Good vision and anticipation for zone coverage. Good hand-eye coordination and leaping skills.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Plays out of control too often, laying a lot of big hits but also missing a lot of tackles along the way. Fontenette also needs to do a better job reading routes when sitting back as a single-high safety.
  • Needs to develop a better understanding of route combinations and better overall vision.
  • Tends to play conservatively and give too much cushion when playing off.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
