Scouting Report: Strengths
- An undersized but explosive athlete, Is a sideline-to-sideline playmaker. He’s a fluid mover who reads, reacts and accelerates quickly.
- Physical at the point of attack and works hard to shed blocks. Enjoys contact and is a forceful tackler. Effective blitzer with the speed to reach the backfield and create backside pressure.
- Carrico has value as an inside blitzer as well, showing the initial burst to shoot through gaps and disrupt the backfield.
- He has an explosive first step and has the fluidity, flexibility and core strength to chase through traffic and make plays.
- Accelerates rapidly and has a great feel for angles. Carrico isn’t huge, but Carrico packs a pop.
- A bit stiff but makes the clean open-field tackle. Good effort in pursuit.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- As a run defender, he’s too much of a grab-and-drag tackler, lacking violence and too frequently allowing running backs to escape.
- He’s going to have to add weight, and even then Carrico will likely be a liability against the run.
- Carrico doesn’t play with the functional strength and physicality to fight through blocks; he’ll need to be covered up in order to maximize his playmaking.
