Draft Profile: Bio
Rueben Owens from El Campo High School was rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 5-star grade by 247 Sports. Following high school, Owens joined Texas A&M.

In 2023 as a freshman Owens saw action in 13 games for the Aggies as he ran for 385 yards on 101 attempts for just 3.8 yards per carry, with 3 TDs, with one fumble. As a receiver he made just 12 receptions for 109 yards.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Cuts on a dime with lightning-fast feet and the quick-twitch explosion of an Olympic sprinter out of the block. Very good vision.
  • His passing game skills are strong. He’s a natural hands catcher who turns upfield quickly in the screen game, and Owens shows a great feel for setting up wheel routes.
  • Owens is a natural playmaker, at his best with the ball in his hands.
  • He’s a weapon in the screen game, quickly transitioning from receiver to runner and showing the twitch to make defenders miss in space.
  • He’s equally dangerous in catch-and-run situations as he is taking the top off a defense
  • He’s a quality receiver with soft hands, and he shows a good feel for catching and transitioning upfield in the screen game.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Too indecisive and hesitant at the line of scrimmage.
  • As a runner, Owens too often looks to bounce outside and make the big play, rather than pick his way through traffic.
  • Owens does most of his work on the perimeter — and ran a lot of fly sweeps

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
