Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Athletic quarterback who is a threat to leave the pocket and gain positive yardage at any time. Possesses very good vision balance, elusiveness and deceptive speed and power as a runner.
  • He’s a threat with his legs - his play-fakes are outstanding, and Armstrong has the ability to manipulate safeties with his eyes.
  • He’s enough of a threat as a runner to make the read-option game effective.
  • Sees the field very well when the play breaks down and occasionally changes plays at the line.
  • Armstrong moves effectively and can throw on the run. He’s at his best on bootlegs, showing zip and accuracy on those throws.
  • He shows the ability to properly gauge deep receivers and effectively drop it in the bucket downfield. Armstrong has the speed and athleticism to make plays with his legs, and he will be capable if asked to run read-option plays.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Armstrong often holds the ball too long. While Armstrong keeps his eyes up while moving, his mechanics get increasingly sloppy once he’s pushed off his spot.
  • His arm strength is decent but less than ideal; he lacks a little zip, and accuracy becomes an issue when he’s unable or unwilling to set his feet.
  • Marginal height, which will prove more of a detriment in an offense that asks him to drop back from center more often.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
