Draft Profile: Bio
Byrum Brown grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina, and starred at Rolesville High School as a three-star recruit. He threw for 3,703 yards and 43 touchdowns against just four interceptions as a senior, added over 1,100 rushing yards, and was a finalist for North Carolina's Mr. Football award.Brown signed with USF and redshirted in 2022 before taking over as the starter in 2023 under new head coach Alex Golesh. That first full season he threw for 3,292 yards and 26 touchdowns while rushing for 809 yards and 11 scores, joining Jayden Daniels as the only FBS players that year to top 3,000 passing and 800 rushing. A lower leg injury limited him to six appearances in 2024, but he bounced back in 2025 with 3,158 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, and 1,008 rushing yards, becoming one of only 11 players in FBS history to post a 3,000/1,000 season. He holds 15 USF program records across his three full seasons as a starter.
Brown followed Golesh to Auburn for the 2026 season, bringing several former USF teammates with him to run the same offensive system in the SEC.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Elite dual-threat production, 42 total touchdowns and over 1,000 rushing yards
- Rare athlete who led the FBS in total offense per game
- Attacks all three levels with accuracy, the deep and intermediate work strong
- Powerful runner who broke roughly fifteen school records at South Florida
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Durability flag after a 2024 lower-leg injury cost most of the season
- Group-of-Five competition level, with the SEC jump unproven
- Short throws lag well behind his deeper work in accuracy
- Leans heavily on the run, with a passing game that must round out
- Followed his coach to Auburn, a steep step up in competition
Scouting Report: Summary
Brown put together one of the most productive seasons in the country at South Florida in 2025, 3,131 passing yards and 28 touchdowns plus 1,008 rushing yards and 14 scores, 42 total touchdowns and the FBS lead in total offense per game, breaking roughly fifteen school records. He is a rare dual-threat athlete who attacks all three levels with accuracy and runs with real power. The production is the headline, a 3,000-pass, 1,000-rush season that few quarterbacks ever assemble, and he followed head coach Alex Golesh to Auburn for 2026, a chance to prove the game travels to the SEC. The athletic comparison points are productive Group of Five dual-threats whose passing had to catch up, and the SEC tape in 2026 is the swing between a real prospect and a system product.
The flags are competition and durability. A 2024 lower-leg injury cost most of that season, the Group of Five level inflates some of the numbers, his short accuracy lags the deeper throws, and he leans heavily on the run with a passing game that still has to round out. Projected to the back end, he is a dynamic dual-threat whose athletic production is exciting and whose 2026 at Auburn, against SEC defenses, is the evaluation that matters most. Even as a projection, the production and the athletic profile make him one of the more intriguing developmental arms in this range.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank
in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance.
For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.
*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
