Gentry Williams emerged as a standout defensive back for the Oklahoma Sooners, showcasing his athletic prowess and playmaking ability. Hailing from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Williams was a highly touted four-star recruit coming out of high school, ranked as the nation's No. 4 cornerback by ESPN. His exceptional speed and versatility caught the attention of college recruiters, with Williams excelling as both a quarterback and track star in high school.At Oklahoma, Williams quickly made his mark on the field. In his sophomore season, he started all 10 games he played, recording 30 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, and three interceptions. His ball-hawking skills were evident from the start, as he notched his first career interception in his collegiate debut against UTEP. Williams' ability to create turnovers and disrupt opposing offenses became a hallmark of his play.
Despite missing three games due to injury in his final season, Williams continued to impress. He served as a game captain twice, demonstrating his leadership qualities. His standout performance came against TCU, where he registered a career-high seven solo tackles. Williams' combination of speed, instincts, and playmaking ability made him a key component of the Sooners' secondary throughout his college career.

Williams is a burner whose rare timed speed and burst off the line give him a projectable outside trait base, a corner who matches releases and competes in run support when healthy. A season-ending shoulder injury limited him to six games, so the 2025 evidence is thin, but the closing speed and the quickness are the kind of traits that keep a player on developmental boards despite the lost time. The athleticism is the entire projection.The injury and the tape are the concerns. The shoulder cost him most of the season, his healthy sample sits at only 178 snaps, and his man coverage is poor against quicker separators. He did not record an interception, and his coverage and run both lag for an outside role. He is a speed-and-flashes corner whose body of work is too small and too uneven to project with confidence.
His value rests on the rare speed, a developmental boundary corner whose traits are worth a late flier if the shoulder checks out and the cover technique develops, now headed to a new program. The injury, the tiny sample, and the poor coverage keep the grade low. He grades as a priority-free-agent type on speed and special-teams value, a project who has to stay healthy and prove it.
