Ifeatu is the younger brother of former second-round pick Obi Melifonwu. Still, unlike his big brother, it doesn’t appear as though a transition to the safety position is going to be necessary for his NFL future. He only played 23 games at Syracuse, but he has shown off his skills, breaking up 19 passes in those 23 games, picking off three. It's impressive to see a CB 6-foot-3, 213 pounds that play with such fluidity. Despite not playing in man coverage very often, he was excellent Melifonwu left alone on an island for the Orange. Even with his size, he is quick in his ability to switch directions when a receiver makes a break in his route. He has elite ball skills. Melifonwu can quickly break on the defender, get his arm in the way of the defender, and intercept the ball. He could very easily become a very successful corner in the NFL, but if he were to switch to safety, he could be exceptional indeed.
