Draft Profile: Bio
Three-star recruit Jamari Thrash from Troup County High School opted to join Georgia State.

After playing little as a freshman as a sophomore in 2020 he played 9 games and had only 9 catches for 161 yards for an average of 17.9 yards per catch, with 2 TDs, and an elite QB rating when targeted of 130.5.

As a junior in 2021 he played 13 games and hauled in 32 catches for 452 yards for an average of 14.1 yards per catch, with 3 TDs, and a QB rating when targeted of 104.8.

In 2022 he played 12 games and had 61 catches for an elite 1111 yards for an average of 18.2 yards per catch, 7 TDs, and a QB rating when targeted of 124.0. His achievements led to him earning first-team All-Sun Belt honors in 2022.

After the end of the season Thrash transferred to Louisville where as a fifth-year senior in 2023 he played 12 games and had 63 catches for 855 yards for an average of 13.6 yards per catch, 6 TDs, and QB rating when targeted of 105.0.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Exhibits smooth and sudden footwork in early stages of release, adept at tight-angle route cuts.
  • Superior route-running ability with the flexibility to adapt speed and direction, showcasing sharp routes like curls and digs.
  • Capable of creating separation with his ability to quickly accelerate and decelerate, coupled with high football IQ.
  • Reliable hands-catcher with focus and composure over the middle, demonstrating consistent ability to make adjustments in-stride.
  • Excels at tracking and adjusting pace for deep balls, indicative of his ball-tracking skill over his shoulder.
  • Thrash's agility and vision make him a potent run-after-catch threat, able to maneuver past defenders or churn through solo tackles.
  • Versatile in alignment with the skill to operate effectively both in the slot and on the boundary, enriching his on-field utility.
  • His performance at both Georgia State and Louisville, including a standout ability to handle zone and man coverage, solidifies his draft profile.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Lacks dominant physical attributes; his frame does not possess the mass or strength typically advantageous at the catch point.
  • Encounters difficulties when facing direct contact within routes, which can lead to dropped passes and losses on contested catches.
  • Despite having a second gear, lacks elite breakaway speed as a RAC threat, affecting down-the-field separation.
  • Struggles with hand strength to secure catches against direct hits, potentially limiting his efficacy in tight coverage.
  • Average at best in run blocking, due to a combination of size and strength challenges.
Scouting Report: Summary
Jamari Thrash enters the NFL Draft as a receiver with a polished route tree and a knack for finding soft spots in zone coverage. His ability to execute sharp cuts and showcase reliable hands makes him a threat on short to intermediate routes. With his demonstrated footwork and ability to make cuts quickly, Thrash can create separation against man coverage, making him a viable option in the slot or on the outside. His route-running savvy, combined with an instinctual understanding of defensive schemes, allows him to be a consistent target. However, Thrash's game does come with limitations, particularly in his downfield speed, (where his timed speed doesn't show) and ability to contest catches against more physically imposing defenders. His lack of elite burst and play strength could hinder his effectiveness in press coverage at the next level.

Despite these concerns, Thrash's versatility and football IQ position him as a promising prospect for teams looking to bolster their receiving corps. His ability to operate both inside and outside gives offensive coordinators flexibility in play-calling, while his hands and route precision ensure he can be a reliable chain mover. Thrash's performance in scramble drill situations and his knack for uncovering against broken plays add another layer to his on-field value.

Overall, Thrash projects as a scheme-versatile receiver capable of contributing early in his career, particularly in systems that value precision route running and spatial awareness. His draft stock might be tempered by physical and athletic limitations, but his skill set offers enough upside to warrant consideration on Day 3.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
