Javontez Spraggins from East St. Louis High School was rated a 3-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 3-star grade by 247 Sports. Following high school, Spraggins opted to join Tennessee.In 2020 as a freshman Spraggins saw action in 9 games and played a total of 91 snaps for the Volunteers. He allowed no QB hurries, no QB hits, and no sacks while playing the majority of his snaps at right guard, and the rest at left guard.
As a sophomore in 2021 he played in 12 games and a total of 861 snaps. He conceded 13 QB hurries, 3 QB hits, and 6 sacks while playing at right guard.
In 2022 as a junior Spraggins saw action in 12 games and totaled 827 snaps. He gave up 10 QB hurries, 5 QB hits, and 2 sacks while playing at right guard.

Scouting Report: Strengths
- Has a stout build with a strong, flexible core. He’s a rock in the middle of the line as a pass protector, with the heavy hands and strong grip to hold his own against bigger defensive tackles.
- Spraggins gets off the snap quickly, and Spraggins is consistently able to generate movement at the point of attack, typically finishing those blocks strong.
- An agile mover who puts his length to good use, using his hands aggressively and landing solid initial punches. Spraggins can move to the second level as a run blocker, with the coordination and balance to hit moving targets.
- Bursts offthe line of scrimmage and has tremendous natural strength and power, able to dominate at the point of attack and wipe out defenders in the run game.
- Does a nice job on the second level, moving upfield quickly and showing the flexibility and balance to land blocks in space.
- Consistently lands blocks at the second level, and he finishes strong. As a pass protector, he has violent, heavy hands. Along with a strong initial punch, he has the hand strength to grip and redirect pass rushers.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Has heavy hands, but Spraggins struggles with hand placement, often shooting too high and failing to take full advantage of his natural strength.
- While he’s fairly quick considering his size, he doesn’t offer much range as a pulling blocker, lacking the speed to get out in front as a lead blocker.
- Finesse blocker with average arm length who doesn't use his hands well to win at the point of attack.
