Draft Profile: Bio
Datrell Jones from Catholic Memorial High School was rated a 3-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 4-star grade by 247 Sports. Following high school, Jones joined Boston College.

In 2024 as a freshman Jones saw action in just 2 games for the Eagles as he ran for just 65 yards on 5 attempts for an outstanding 13.0 yards per carry, with one TD, with no fumbles. As a receiver he made no receptions for no yards.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Jones keeps his pads low and consistently falls forward. Unlike most backs his size, Jones has the lateral movement and stop-start ability to make defenders whiff. He has breakaway speed in the open field.
  • He’s capable as a receiver, a weapon on swing passes and in the screen game.
  • He is an electrifying player, one of college football’s best playmakers in space
  • He’s a natural pass catcher, at his best pulling in swing passes and heading upfield. He’s a natural in the screen game as well. His hands are good enough that he can line up in the slot.
  • He’s outstanding as a receiver, with good hands and the coordination to snatch away from his body and fluidly transition to a runner.
  • Jones finishes runs well and flashes the ability to get small and squeeze through traffic.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Does not always read blocks behind pulling guards. May not be big enough to move piles at the next level and has a tendency to bury his head too soon.
  • Has a lean frame and lacks ideal bulk or muscle for the position. Doesn't have great strength, lacking a power element to his game to break many tackles.
  • Not a blocker. Limitations due to size with obvious durability questions

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
