Draft Profile: Bio
A five-star by ESPN and Rivals out of IMG Academy and a native of Chesapeake, Virginia, Ricks signed with Alabama as one of the top cornerbacks in his class and a standout athletic tester, clocking a sub-4.5 forty with a near-39-inch vertical. He transferred to Texas A&M after his time in Tuscaloosa, joining Mike Elko's defense as a coveted portal addition.Ricks started on the boundary in 2025 and broke up eight passes across thirteen games with 29 tackles, competing at the catch point against bigger receivers with the length and recovery speed that made him a blue-chip recruit. He played his best coverage game against South Carolina with two breakups, though the coverage grades trailed the recruiting reputation and the interception column stayed empty. The blue-chip recruiting billing and testing profile keep his ceiling high, even as the snap-to-snap coverage and the empty interception column leave room to grow.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Five-star tools with rare timed speed to carry vertical routes
- Long at 73 inches to contest throws at the catch point
- Defended eight passes across a full starting season
- Burst off the line to match releases on the boundary
- Competes downfield with the speed to recover when beaten
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- A severe tackling problem, with fifteen misses this year
- Surrendered 420 yards, the most reps given up in this group
- Defends the run poorly as a force in support
- Recorded no interceptions despite a heavy target volume
- Coverage results badly trail the loud athletic tools
Scouting Report: Summary
Ricks is a five-star athlete with rare timed speed and 73-inch length, the kind of boundary cover tools NFL defenses chase, and he broke up eight passes across a full starting season after transferring from Alabama. He carries vertical routes, matches releases off the line, and recovers downfield when beaten. The traits are loud and projectable, and at his age the athletic ceiling keeps him on the radar despite a rough results profile. The tape, though, is a real problem. His tackling is severe, with fifteen misses, he surrendered 420 yards, the most in this group, and his washed at the point in the run game as a force in support. He recorded no interceptions despite heavy target volume, and his coverage results badly trail the athletic tools. He is a traits-over-production projection whose technique, finishing, and ball skills all need significant development.
The evaluation is a traits-based developmental flier, a fast, long corner whose cover tools are worth a late bet if a staff can fix the tackling, the technique, and the ball skills. He has to turn the athleticism into production and become a willing tackler, because the results give him little to lean on. He grades on Day 3 as a developmental corner with upside, a project whose ceiling rides entirely on coaching the tools into tape.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank
in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance.
For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.
*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
