Draft Profile: Bio
Dijon Johnson from Wharton High School was rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 4-star grade by 247 Sports. Following high school, Johnson opted to join Florida after being heavily recruited. In 2023 as a freshman Johnson saw action in just 3 games and played a total of 22 snaps at cornerback for the Gators. He recorded no tackles, no assists, while adding no stops. In coverage Johnson notched up no pass breakups, no interceptions, and an outstanding QB rating when targetted of 43.8.
As a sophomore in 2024 he played in 4 games and logged 114 snaps for the Gators. He made only 5 tackles, 2 assists, and had 2 stops. In coverage he totaled no pass breakups, no interceptions, and QB rating when targetted of 56.3.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- He’s a willing and capable hitter in run support and closes fast to make plays against quick screens.
- Aware zone cornerback who is also adept in man coverage, flashing physical hand punch at the line and straight-line speed to stay with receivers downfield.
- Instincts are outstanding, and Johnson does an excellent job in route recognition.
- Stays low in his backpedal and shows the click-and-close ability to break up plays in front of him. Johnson can move well laterally and shows excellent instincts when looking into the backfield in zone coverage.
- Takes accurate angles to the ballcarrier. A strong, aggressive tackler and doesn't back down against the run.
- His length and leaping ability allow him to high-point the ball and make plays. Johnson would have had bigger interception numbers in college had opposing quarterbacks not gone out of their way to avoid him.
- He’s also very good in zone coverage, showing a great understanding of routes and the ability to close quickly.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Questionable technique and Johnson gets lazy with fundamentals, sometimes getting high in his backpedal and will breach the coverage call seeking flashy plays
- Tends to play conservatively and give too much cushion when playing off.
- Needs to improve his footwork and balance in coverage. Transitions out of his backpedal too early and doesn't look natural moving in reverse.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank
in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance.
For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.
*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
