Draft Profile: Bio

As a sophomore in 2021 he played in just 3 games and a total of 159 snaps. He conceded just 3 QB hurries, no QB hits, and one sack while playing at left guard.
In 2022 as a junior Rivers saw action in 9 games and totaled 631 snaps. He gave up 9 QB hurries, 2 QB hits, and 2 sacks while playing at left guard.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Attacks his man, playing with a wide base and the lateral agility to mirror, sustain and shuffle to help inside. Has the size, strength and quick feet to be effective as a position run-blocker.
- Showing some nastiness to his game, Rivers will sustain blocks through the whistle, thriving when he’s in the phone booth.
- In the run game, he plays with a mean streak and does a nice job generating a push at the initial point of attack. Rivers can get outside and does a decent job landing blocks in space.
- He’s a coordinated athlete who can win at the point of attack in the run game, and he can also move to consistently land blocks at the second level.
- Rivers has long arms that allow him to survive as a pass protector on the edge, and he typically plays with good balance.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Heavy footed and lacks elite lateral ability- will struggle with speed rushers and footwork is a work in progress. Bends too much at the waist and overextends himself- often caught lunging and leaning.
- Flashes the ability to move his man with his hands, but is not yet consistent in this area.
- Can look a little shaky in pass protection against speed-to-power, as his upper and lower body aren’t always coordinated.
- Has a bad habit of panicking on reach blocks, lunging, and grabbing rather than trusting his athleticism to get him in position, which could lead to frequent flags for holding.
