Scouting Report: Strengths
- Fluid mover with decent speed and his length allows him to cover effectively downfield
- Great on route recognition and has click-and-close ability
- He’ll have some limitations in man coverage, but Perryman should develop into a serviceable starter.
- Does a good job getting his head around in time when playing with his back to the line of scrimmage. Has the ability to cover quickness underneath.
- Flashes intimidating attitude and will crush tiptoeing receivers across the middle.
- Extremely aggressive to come up and put his body in traffic to make tackles.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Better in press coverage than in off coverage, when Perryman can look shaky and unsure when transitioning out of his backpedal. He’ll give up throws underneath.
- Willing but not threatening tackler. Doesn't have the quick-twitch reaction when he gears down to rebuild to top speed. More instinctive than explosive.
- The majority of the time last season, he was able to physically overwhelm opposing receivers early in the down, a scenario that won’t play out as often against NFL receivers.
