Following high school, Schott opted to join Iowa.

In 2018 as a freshman Schott saw action in just one game and played a total of 3 snaps for the Hawkeyes. He allowed no QB hurries, no QB hits, and no sacks while playing sparingly.

As a sophomore in 2019 he played in 8 games and a total of 482 snaps. He conceded 6 QB hurries, one QB hit, and one sack while playing most of his snaps at right guard.

In 2020 as a junior Schott saw action in 5 games and totaled 296 snaps. He gave up no QB hurries, one QB hit, and no sacks while playing the majority of his snaps at left guard, and the rest at right guard.

In 2021 as a senior Schott saw action in 12 games and played a total of 613 snaps for the Hawkeyes. He allowed 8 QB hurries, 3 QB hits, and no sacks while playing most of his snaps at left guard.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Understands angles and plays with good leverage. Schott has long arms and heavy hands, using them effectively in pass protection, and Schott has a strong enough initial punch to get an edge on quick sets.
  • Cerebral player, quick to react to twists and stunts up front, and he shows an excellent understanding of angles when moving out as a run blocker.
  • When his hand placement is right, he has the strong grip that allows him to manhandle opponents. He plays with a mean streak and keeps the nastiness going through the whistle.
  • He’s a coordinated athlete who can win at the point of attack in the run game, and he can also move to consistently land blocks at the second level.
  • Displays good awareness when it comes to reading moving bodies, effectively reacting and adjusting. Schott also shows a good feel for combo blocks.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Loses leverage battles and plays with high pad level. Can be late off the snap.
  • Had issues against quality counter moves, struggling to readjust. That’s something he’ll see frequently against NFL technicians in the pass rush.
  • He’s a bit underpowered the more Schott has to move in the run game, better in a phone booth than out in space.
  • Has fairly heavy feet, struggling to mirror against quicker defenders. Schott lacks the range to get out as an effective puller, and he can often look stiff when moving out into space and zeroing in on bodies.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
