Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Underrated blocker. Cognizant pass defender who is willing to meet a linebacker in the gap.
  • Cain aggressively finishes runs and consistently falls forward in a crowd. His low pad level and a bit of wiggle keep him from absorbing big hits.
  • Cain shows exceptional toughness and good balance running between the tackles, and Cain was excellent when it came to finishing runs.
  • Balanced runner maintains low pad level and has the power to keep moving after initial contact.
  • His skills as a runner translate nicely to the next level, and he could emerge as an early down back on a team that uses a zone running scheme.
  • His passing game skills are strong. He’s a natural hands catcher who turns upfield quickly in the screen game, and he shows a great feel for setting up wheel routes.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • His hands are good, but Cain doesn’t show much feel as a route runner and might not be a guy you flex out wide.
  • Cain isn’t slow, but he lacks the third gear to be a home run threat. His hands are improving but still inconsistent in the passing game.
  • Cain isn’t going to overwhelm opposing defensive backs with speed and athleticism.
