Draft Profile: Bio
A first-team All-State selection at Ensworth in Tennessee, Porter caught 32 passes for 557 yards and a team-high 10 touchdowns as a senior and signed with Kentucky as a four-star recruit ranked the No. 29 receiver nationally in the On3 Consensus. He appeared in one game as a 2023 true freshman and redshirted.Porter entered the transfer portal that winter and landed at UConn with four years of eligibility remaining. In 2024 he played four games and turned three receptions into 75 yards and two touchdowns, an average of 25.0 yards per catch.
The 2025 season brought a regular role: 13 appearances, 19 catches, 252 yards and a touchdown. His biggest output came at Florida Atlantic, where he gained 58 yards on two receptions and scored in a 48-45 UConn win, and he added a four-catch, 41-yard day at Syracuse before closing the year against Army in the Fenway Bowl.

Shamar Porter is a size-based flyer whose profile is all projection. A former four-star who landed at UConn after signing with Kentucky, he offers a 6-foot-3 boundary frame and the length to win downfield, and he flashed it on a 58-yard, one-score day at Florida Atlantic. The tools that made him a recruit are still there on the hoof.The production and tape tell a harder story. He caught just 19 passes for 252 yards in 2025 and, most concerning for a big receiver, won none of his five contested targets, the exact area his frame is supposed to win. He is a raw route runner with a slight track record and no history as a regular contributor, so the evaluation rests almost entirely on measurables.
He fits a vertical offense that can develop him slowly behind established targets. Overall, the size is intriguing, but the lack of production and the contested struggles make Porter a developmental, tools-based flyer whose draft case depends on turning his frame into the catch-point wins it has not yet produced. A strong pro-day workout would help, but the tape has to catch up to the measurables, and until it does he is a project a team stashes on the strength of his length and develops away from the lights.
