Following high school, Orji opted to join Vanderbilt.In 2019 as a freshman Orji saw action in 9 games and played a total of 78 snaps at linebacker for the Commodores. - Orji shows good speed and closing burst when blitzing.
- Can attack the edge with speed and has the flexibility to dip low and under the tackle's reach.
- Handles misdirection well with quick change-of-direction ability. Comes downhill quickly against the run when Orji has an open lane.
- Shows a burst to close. Flashes explosive hitting ability and good lateral and downfield pursuit.
- He’s an instinctive and active chase-and-tackle 4-3 Will, with the speed to go sideline to sideline. He takes excellent angles. He also has an innate sense for shooting gaps as a run defender.
- Orji shows good quickness off the line of scrimmage and flashes the violent hands to win around the edge.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Lacks functional strength in the pass rush, struggling to disengage and too easily pushed past the pocket.
- He’s perfectly capable of converting speed into power when Orji gets to the ball, but too often he slips off tackles or turns into a grab-and-drag tackler rather than a hitter, failing to keep his legs driving through the hit.
- Orji doesn’t have much room on his frame to add weight, and he lacks the upper-body strength to be a stack-and-shed linebacker.
