Cyrus Fagan attended Mainland High School and was rated a 4-star prospect by 247 Sports with a scout's rating of 0.940, going unranked by ESPN. Following high school, Fagan opted to join Florida State after being heavily recruited.In 2018 as a freshman Fagan saw action in 11 games and played a total of 293 snaps at safety for the Seminoles. He recorded 14 tackles, 7 assists, while adding 7 stops. In coverage Fagan notched up 2 pass breakups, no interceptions, and a QB rating when targetted of 70.8.
As a sophomore in 2019 he played in 8 games and logged 342 snaps for the Seminoles. He made 37 tackles, 6 assists, and had 6 stops. In coverage he totaled 2 pass breakups, one interception, and QB rating when targetted of 114.7.

- Has the fluidity, speed and quick feet to come down and defend slot receivers in man coverage. Fagan also does a nice job breaking down in space as a tackler after the catch.
- Has good trajectory assessment on the thrown ball, breaks quickly and has decent ball skills
- Good strength to tackle. Plays with high energy and is a tough-minded overachiever.
- Has quick feet and excellent change-of-direction ability, capable of mirroring quickness underneath.
- Can deliver the big hit and isn't afraid to jump inside to slow the ball.
- Flashes some physicality as a hitter.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Fagan plays high and tends to struggle with change of direction, and Fagan also shows some stiffness when he has to flip his hips.
- Has very inconsistent tackling technique and too often just throws himself at the lower body of the ballcarrier instead of wrapping up.
- Takes poor angles on the ball and lacks the pure speed to chase down the ballcarrier.
