After high school, Doyle joined Iowa.In 2019 as a freshman Doyle saw action in 7 games and played a total of 224 snaps at linebacker for the Hawkeyes. - Works hard to get better and gives top effort on every play. Heads-up defender who shows good field awareness.
- Gives effort between the tackles to find the ball and is willing to take on linemen.
- Doyle shows good speed and closing burst when blitzing.
- Good all-around athlete with very good short-area quickness and fluidity. Very good playing strength and has worked hard in the weight room, adding bulk and filling out his frame.
- Gets pressures on inside stunts and was too explosive for college guards to handle.
- He’s a sure and violent wrap-up tackler with sideline-to-sideline range. He’s an excellent tackler in space, showing loose hips and the ability to break down and contain runners.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Doyle lacks elite traits in the pass rush and will need to develop a counter move.
- Doyle also has a tendency to be too aggressive attacking downhill, and Doyle can be beat on counter plays and cutbacks.
- Locates the ball but takes circuitous routes to go get to it. Should use power and long arms to take on and disengage from blocks. Inefficient with his angles.
